Chelsea No2 Clement happy to work with young players during international break

Chelsea No2 Paul Clement is happy to be working with the young players again during the international break.

It allows a different focus to coaching from the day-to-day involvement Clement has grown used to since his elevation to this position in 2009.

"We obviously have less players at times like this and as a result of that we put the reserves and first team together, it's good for them to come up and work with Carlo and the first team players but also for the senior ones, who rather than training in groups of four or five can continue to do some good work with high intensity and good numbers, so that's what we've done," Clement explained to chelseafc.com.

"It is good for us to take a look at the youngsters, but we follow them closely anyway. I sit with [reserve team coach] Steve Holland and liaise very closely with him, we chair two groups where we discuss the young players in detail across different areas, the technical work, the physical work and the medical side, there is a lot of communication that goes on between us and Carlo is very interested in the young players also.

"He goes to FA Youth Cup games, he goes to reserve games and I think that's been a real plus how we've kept the continuity going and integrated the young players with the senior ones.

"I enjoy this developmental side of coaching still, very much so,' he continued. 'It is different with the first team, it's great being around the competition and competing at the top levels, but that is the one thing I miss about what I used to do, the development side, so I try to keep my hand in working with Steve and the young players because I enjoy it."
