Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel was happy to see action in last week's Champions League defeat to Basel.

Despite the result, Van Ginkel was pleased to see competitive football.

"Despite the loss, I consider it as a first milestone in my time here," he told Algemeen Dagblad.

"Of course it sucks if three days later for a league game you're not playing. But I may start in the next Champions League game and this still gives me confidence."
