Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard admits he came close to moving to Inter Milan to join Jose Mourinho.

Lampard hopes to see the Real Madrid coach return to Chelsea this summer.

The 34-year-old said: "The closest I ever came to leaving was Inter Milan with Jose in 2008.

"The idea of challenging myself to something different and going with a manager who was such an influence on my career really appealed.

"But in the end I wanted to stay for personal reasons, because of my mum, and also because of the attachment I have to Chelsea."
