Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard says no-one should be surprised by Jose Mourinho's reaction to their European Super Cup defeat to Bayern Munich.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard says no-one should be surprised by Jose Mourinho's reaction to their European Super Cup defeat to Bayern Munich.

Mourinho shelved his adopted 'Happy one' image, to question the referee's dismissal of Ramires – and hint at some sort of UEFA agenda.

Asked if this was evidence Mourinho hated losing, and what impact that attitude had on his players, Lampard said: “I love that!

“You want a manager who hates losing, because I think he appreciates players who hate losing. We're all in the same boat there.

“And the one thing about Jose Mourinho is that you know the identity of his team wherever he goes: they hate losing, they want to win, they want to play good football and win.

“I think he very quickly imprints that on his teams, and I think he is doing that with us. If we can work on what we've seen (against Bayern), and get even better, then we can have a good season.”
