Chelsea's Jose Mourinho selected his words very carefully when asked about the record-equalling form of Leicester City's Jamie Vardy.
The 28-year-old striker made it 10 Premier League matches in a row on the scoresheet when hitting the back of the net in Saturday's 3-0 win over Newcastle United, joining Ruud van Nistelrooy as the only two players to have such strong scoring runs in England's top flight.
Vardy has already loosely been linked with a potential winter move away from the King Power Stadium, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United mentioned, but Mourinho chose to avoid any transfer talk when quizzed on the former non-league star ahead of the Blues' Champions League clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
"I don't want to analyse the boy because if I do you will take my words and put them in a different perspective, and say I want to or do not want to sign him," said Mourinho.
"The point is a super striker like van Nistelrooy did something historical in the Premier League, and the reality is that Vardy has equalled that and has the chance to make history. So what he is doing is remarkable."
