Chelsea, Man Utd tracking Man City's Richards talks

The Premiership's biggest clubs are tracking Micah Richards' new contract talks with Manchester City.

The Sunday Mirror says City's hopes of finally securing the England defender on a new deal worth £50,000 a week are doomed.

Richards's camp will open the bidding at £70,000 a week - a package that would take the teenager into a league of his own on the Eastlands payroll.

His bargaining position is strengthened by the knowledge that every top club at home and abroad are watching developments.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are on the list of admirers, although City would be unlikely to sanction any sale to Old Trafford given their bitter rivalry with the champions.

Both the club and the FA have received official notification that Richards is now being advised by his father.

No date has yet been set for negotiations to take place.
