Chelsea, Man City encouraged in pursuit of Valencia fullback Van der Wiel

Chelsea and Manchester City have been encouraged in their pursuit of Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel.

Both Premier League heavyweights are keen on the unsettled Dutchman and will be happy to hear talks between Ajax and Valencia over Van der Wiel's sale have ground to a halt.

Super Deportes says Valencia have pulled back over Ajax's €8 million asking price.

Van der Wiel is keen to see the move happen, but is likely to be forced to consider other offers with Valencia demanding Ajax drop their valuation.
