Chelsea are ready to make a final bid for Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.

The Daily Star says Carlo Ancelotti admits the winger is likely to stay at Bayern Munich or move to Real Madrid. But the Blues are desperate to land the former Lyon star.

Yuri Zhirkov became Chelsea's third signing yesterday, joining for £18m after the previous arrivals of Daniel Sturridge and goalkeeper Ross Turnbull.

But he is not the type of fantasy player that both new boss Ancelotti and the Chelsea fans want. Ribery would come into that equation, but it looks like Chelsea are fighting a losing battle.

If Chelsea do not get anywhere, they will instead turn to Real Madrid's Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder.
