Chelsea have made an offer for Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio.
The Sun says Chelsea have opened the bidding at around £17million and, despite their initial offer being turned down, believe a deal for the midfielder could be agreed.
Marchisio has been used predominantly from the bench this season, but has spent his entire career at Juventus.
Boss Max Allegri has signed a new contract at the club until 2020 and has outlined his summer transfer targets — but may need to recoup some money from sales.
One of the options would be to allow reluctantly allow Marchisio to leave — but not for less than £25m.
