Chelsea are focusing their negotiations with Juventus on signing Mattia Caldara.
La Repubblica says Chelsea tabled a first bid of €40m to Juve over the weekend for the young centre-half.
The Blues made the move after abandoning their pursuit of Juve teammate Daniele Rugani. His €50m valuation was regarded as too rich by the Londoners.
Instead, the focus is now on Caldara, who has just returned to Turin after a successful loan with Atalanta.
Rugani, meanwhile, could be offered to AC Milan in exchange for Leonardo Bonucci, who is a confirmed target for Juve GM Beppe Marotta.
