Look away fans of Chelsea, Crystal Palace and England, Ruben Loftus-Cheek might need surgery on his ankle.
The 21-year-old, currently on loan at Palace from Chelsea, hasn't played since December 28 due to the injury.
It was originally thought he would miss just a couple of weeks, but Eagles manager Roy Hodgson has revealed the injury is much more severe.
"The injury is more severe than we originally thought it would be," Hodgson said.
"I would be very disappointed, surgery or no surgery, if he's not playing before the end of the season. We certainly want him to be and I would presume Chelsea would want him to be.
"The only way he can make himself available for Crystal Palace or England is to be fit and at the moment that isn't the case."
Loftus-Cheek impressed in his first two England caps against Brazil and Germany last year and was expected to be a shoe-in for Gareth Southgate's squad for Russia.
