Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola is keen to join Antonio Conte's coaching staff.
The Blues legend is keen for a return to coaching and has always maintained he would like the top job at Stamford Bridge one day in the future.
An opening could arise sooner rather than later if current No2 Steve Holland joins new England boss Gareth Southgate as expected next week.
Zola, who had managerial spells at West Ham and Watford, told The Sun: “I am saying something obvious if I say one day I want to be Chelsea manager. But I've always said I would like to be a Chelsea coach.
“But I haven't spoken to Antonio about that. I like to see my old club in good hands. I'm really happy for Antonio and I hope he's successful."
Zola was interviewed by Inter Milan earlier this month and confirmed the links with Swansea, Hull and Nottingham Forest but nothing materialised.
