Chelsea legend Lampard 'fortunate' to be given Man City opportunity

Frank Lampard admits it has been a massive thrill to experience life as a Manchester City player.

The former England midfielder, 36, departed Chelsea last summer after 14 years with the west London club to extend his Premier League career with reigning champions City.

?As New York City FC-bound Lampard prepares for his final few months in England's top flight, he acknowledges that he has had plenty of luck throughout his playing days culminating in his shift to the Etihad Stadium prior to the current season.

?I'm very excited and I'm very fortunate," he said. "This part of my career, coming to City, was something I never saw coming and when I look back and think, blimey, at 36 I got asked to come to the champions and a club with this pedigree of player here.

?"I'm delighted that happened and I'm delighted with the future I've got and the opportunity to go on and play in New York and try to help there, but also be part of a new football club in one of the greatest cities in the world."?
