Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is ready to take his first step into management.

The Sun says Lampard is in talks over the vacant Oxford manager's job.

Spanish boss Pep Clotet was sacked yesterday by the League One club after less than seven months in charge.

England legend Lampard, 39, was considered for the job last summer but was focused on getting his coaching badges.

Lampard has been helping the Chelsea Under-18s and Oxford have asked him to take the plunge.

Clotet, 40, was sacked by the U's after the 2-1 loss at home to bottom side Bury.

He had taken the reigns from Michael Appleton but leaves with the club eight points adrift of the play-off places in tenth.
