Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has declared David Luiz as "world class".

The Brazilian was on the winning side yesterday as Chelsea secured their place in the FA Cup final after a 4-2 victory over Tottenham.

“For me he's always been a world class defender. I think in his first period at Chelsea he overplayed at times," Lampard told BBC prior to the game.

“The other thing for me was that he was always in a back four. He was getting exposed.

"The main thing that's helped him since he's come back to the club is playing in a back three.

“He can play central, it gives him a lot of time on the ball where his great range of passing can start attacks.

“No one wants to close him down because he's got that nice central role. It's been a major help for him.

“On the defensive side, I think it's given him confidence to not worry about being exposed as he was before."
