Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has accepted a £40,000 salary to take the Burton Albion job.
He has taken a pittance just to get back into the game as shock new boss at the League Two Brewers after leaving Royal Antwerp after one season in the summer.
Hasselbaink, 42, said: "I can't live without football. Football is everything for me. I want to stay in football.
"Money was not the motivation. The motivation was the club, the setup, the beliefs, the players and the atmosphere.
"I wanted to come in England and manage in England. My wife is British, my kids live here and I did not want to take them off school. I wanted to be here.
"A few jobs came up. I applied for a few but it does not matter. Burton Albion came available and I jumped at it.
"I thought it was a brilliant opportunity, a stable, well run, family club with the right idea. I fit the right match for this club."
