Didier Drogba says a discussion with AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta helped persuade him to join Major League Soccer outfit Montreal Impact.

Nesta played for Montreal during the 2012/13 MLS season and gave Drogba rave reviews of the club before the former Chelsea striker opted to sign a deal with the Canadian outfit.

"I spoke to Nesta and I know he had a great time here and Montreal is French speaking, while the president also had a big influence," Drogba said.

"The Chelsea players and staff spoke very well about the training centre, that was very important." The Ivorian is hopeful of making his MLS debut against New York Red Bulls next week.
