Chelsea legend Ashley Cole is backing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for the England job.

The Football Association are now looking for their new main man and Arsenal's Wenger has been a surprise name on their wish-list.

He told Sky Sports: "Do you go for a foreign manager, do you stick with an English manager?

"It's debatable but for me I'd like to see someone like Wenger there.

"He's good with the youngsters, knows how to win and knows his football.

"So if you asked me to choose a manager it would be Arsene Wenger. I think he could develop it on to the next level.

"Like I said, the players they have there have great talent.

"They just need the experience and just need someone like Wenger that can nurture the young ones, he's done it at Arsenal for years now so I'd like to see Arsene Wenger."
