Chelsea are planning a bid for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini. The Daily Mirror says Fellaini has emerged as the No 1 transfer target for big-spending Chelsea as owner Roman Abramovich continues to rebuild his playing squad.

Chelsea are keen to strengthen their midfield with Frank Lampard approaching his 34th birthday and fitness doubts remaining over Michael Essien.

The Toffees would be prepared to sell should they make a significant profit on the £15m they paid Standard Liege for Fellaini nearly four years ago.
