The Daily Star says Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is seeking to freshen up his ageing squad, despite their own double triumph. And he plans to bring in Schweinsteiger, 25, as a replacement for 33-year-old compatriot Michael Ballack.
Chelsea officials have opened talks with Schweinsteiger’s advisers and held out the offer of a £4m-a-year contract.
Schweinsteiger insisted: “Right now I’m focusing solely on the World Cup.
“All the rest doesn’t interest me.”
Nicknamed Schweini – Piggy – he is under contract with Bayern until 2012.
Schweinsteiger, who can play on either wing or in central midfield, is Germany’s vice-captain for the World Cup finals.
