Lampard is still mourning the departure of Jose Mourinho and was believed to be one of the former manager's biggest allies in the dressing room, says the Daily Mirror.

Even before Mourinho's sudden ousting, Lampard had plunged his future at Stamford Bridge into doubt by refusing to sign a new £140,000-a-week contract.

Real Madrid are apparently set to bid for the England international in the January transfer window and Lampard could relish the chance of a fresh start in Spain.
