Chelsea are watching Udinese goalkeeper Alex Meret.

The youngster is starring this season in Serie B with Spal.

The Sunday Mirror says Chelsea are battling with Inter Milan for Meret, regarded the hottest young keeper in Italian football.

Blues boss Antonio Conte has personally asked for 20-year-old Meret to be scouted after some stand-out performances for promotion-seeking SPAL in Serie B.

The player is on loan from Udinese and the Italian club is willing to listen to offers this summer.

Chelsea have already topped the club's £4m valuation by offering £6m plus extras – but Inter have raised the bar to £7m.

Juventus are also interested, which could mean a transfer auction unfolds.
