Chelsea icon Hoddle: Crazy to dump Ancelotti

Chelsea icon Glenn Hoddle cannot believe Carlo Ancelotti is facing the sack.

Roman Abramovich is intent on bringing in Guus Hiddink to work with coaches such as Marco van Basten and Gianfranco Zola, but Hoddle says he should stick with Ancelotti if they are to have any hope of toppling Barcelona or Manchester United from the top of the European tree.

"It will be a mistake to change the manager if the owner is searching for someone to bring him the Champions League," Hoddle told the Daily Express.

"Carlo deserves one more go at it, but the reality is how do you topple Manchester United domestically and how on earth do you topple Barcelona in Europe?

"It might be realistic to aim for the title, but not for the Champions League while this Barcelona team are around. In the past, teams such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Liverpool dominated Europe for years - and Barcelona can do the same."
