Chelsea to hit Drogba with fine over Euro red
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Thu, 03/18/2010 - 09:32
Chelsea are expected to fine Didier Drogba for his Champions League dismissal this week.
The Times says Chelsea are preparing to punish the Ivory Coast striker for his latest indiscipline, although the sum would be nowhere near the two weeks’ wages normally levied on players who have committed off-field indiscretions.
Chelsea are determined to improve their players’ behaviour on and off the pitch and have introduced a system of fines to help them to achieve their objective. It is understood that Michael Ballack was fined £10,000 after he was sent off for kicking out at Carlos Tévez in the 4-2 defeat by Manchester City last month, and Drogba’s punishment would be of a similar magnitude.

Is this report a campaign or what? Drogba has been unfairly treated several times in
Europe by referees that one begins to wonder whether it is done partly to get at Chelsea.
Drogba's red card against Man-u was a result of ref's blind eye to physical assaults from
Vidic during that match, and against Inter which is stil fresh in the memory, I guess the ref
was waiting for Inter defenders to give Drogba a wrestlemania type body slam before he
acted cos if not I wonder why Lucio's wrestling grip on Drogba was considered normal. He
is a human being who has emotions and feelings, and may be if he was from a different
continent he would have more respect and protection. Granted that he falls easily a few
times. If Drogba was in Man-u, let alone English, your media would have been more
objective in apprasing the red card situations.
