Chelsea held Maldini talks Friday

Chelsea are confident of naming Paolo Maldini as the latest member of Carlo Ancelotti's backroom team.

BBC Sport says the retiring AC Milan captain held talks on Friday with Ancelotti and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich at the club's training ground.

There's been talk of him being either a general manager or a joint-assistant coach alongside Ray Wilkins, but at the moment any role for Madini is unspecified.
