Chelsea grind out priceless three points

Whilst not at their best Chelsea battled to a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge and moved four points clear of Manchester United at the Premiership summit. The hosts lacked the style of recent weeks but at this stage of the season results are all that matters.

The vital goal came just before half time when Nicolas Anelka scored for the first time in 14 outings when he headed home a Didier Drogba cross.

Bolton struggled to create chances but will feel aggrieved at having two penalty shouts turned down and then with five minutes remaining Johan Elmander should have levelled but nodded wide from six yards leaving the Wanderers still with relegation concerns.
