Former Chelsea star Ray Wilkins failed to turn up to court to face a drink driving charge, reports the Daily Mail.
The 59-year-old, who also played for Manchester United and QPR during his career, was found driving at three times the legal limit after being stopped by a fellow passenger after a charity golf day on July 1.
Wilkins did not show for court because he has been checked into the Priory in Sussex for rehab since he was arrested.
It is understood that the former Fulham, Chelsea and Jordan manager will plead guilty to drink driving as he continues to recover from his problem.
Sarah-Kate McIntyre, who is defending popular TV pundit Wilkins, told Uxbridge Magistrates' Court that he was absent on the advice of clinical psychologist Dr Ian Draver.
"Mr Wilkins has indicated he admits the prosecution's case in the full facts," she said.
"If he could enter a guilty plea through me he would, but I can only make that indication that he will.
"He is currently undergoing a 28-day residential rehabilitation programme at the Priory Hospital in Woking. I have an email from his clinical psychologist that says he is concerned about Mr Wilkins attending court while undergoing this treatment for fear he would suffer a relapse.
"He shows high levels of motivation and his doctor urges that he continues with that treatment."
