Chelsea have granted Diego Costa permission to open talks with Atletico Madrid about a return.
It was confirmed by Chelsea yesterday that Costa had been excused from the start of preseason training at Cobham.
AS says Costa is now speaking with Atletico about finalising his return to the Madrid giants.
Chelsea have bumper offers from China, but Costa has made it clear he only wants to sign for Atletico this summer.
There remains much to negotiate, however, with Atletico's transfer ban meaning they cannot register Costa as a player until January 1. Loaning the striker to a rival has been suggested.
Meanwhile, it's also been revealed Costa and Antonio Conte have had no communication since the Chelsea manager informed the striker he was no longer wanted via text.
