Free agent David James may drop into the Championship with Bristol City.
The Scottish Sun says the 39-year-old had talks yesterday with Robins boss Steve Coppell.
Now the mid-table Championship side are ready to offer a 12-month free transfer deal.
James had been due at Celtic on Monday for a tour but called off the trip at the last minute, citing family reasons.
English champions Chelsea are also sniffing around but the keeper is expected to sit down with Hoops boss Neil Lennon later this week in London.
