Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to close a deal for Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay. The Mirror says Ferguson is trying to push through a £15million deal for Benfica's Argentinian defender Garay.
Reports this week that Chelsea are also chasing the ex-Real Madrid centre-half have pushed Manchester United into action.
United manager Ferguson has detailed his scouts to watch Garay for the past few months and they have now entered discussions with Benfica to land their man.
Garay is believed to be keen on a move to the Old Trafford club, ahead of interest from Chelsea and Barcelona.
