Chelsea determined to push through bid for Liverpool's Torres

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks' declaration that Fernando Torres will not be sold yesterday won't put off Chelsea.

The Daily Mail says worryingly for Liverpool, Chelsea are serious about funding an ambitious move for one of new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's prime targets, even if it has little chance of succeeding.

After seeing the former Atletico Madrid frontrunner become an instant Kop hero, following a club record £21m arrival last summer, Hicks is acutely aware that caving in to Chelsea would spark the biggest public outcry of his ill-fated reign.
