Chelsea demand AC Milan cover Shevchenko wages

Chelsea want AC Milan to cover Andriy Shevchenko's wages if they're to take him on-loan.

The Daily Star says Milan want Shevchenko back on a season-long loan and are confident a deal can be done this week after top-secret talks between Blues owner Roman Abramovich and Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.

But Chelsea will not contemplate a move which involves them helping to subsidise the 31-year-old's huge £130,000-a-week salary.

Abramovich and Berlusconi discussed the transfer over a lavish lunch at the former Milan president's home on the island of Sardinia last Thursday.
