Chelsea defender Ivanovic welcomes Real Madrid talk

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has welcomed the interest of Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants want to sign Ivanovic next month as a replacement for Pepe, who is likely to miss the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.

In time, Real see Ivanovic as replacement for Sergio Ramos at right back and the Serb defender admitted: "If it is true that Real Madrid are interested in me it would be an honour because the club is a dream for every player."

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti does not want to lose the much-improved defender who arrived from Lokomotiv Moscow in a £9.7million deal two years ago.

Chelsea are understood to be drawing up a new contract offer for Ivanovic — his current deal runs out in 18 months — in a bid to ward off Real’s interest.
