Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez has revealed that Gary Cahill underwent knee surgery last month.
The centre-back has been sidelined since March 17 and was forced out of England's World Cup qualifiers with San Marino and Montenegro as a result.
However, it had not been disclosed that Cahill actually had an operation on the minor meniscus problem which should see him out for another two weeks or so.
"He had an operation. We did it very quickly on the Saturday of the Southampton game (30 March)," said Benitez.
