COMMENT: Bad form will come and go, but you know what the biggest problem at Chelsea is? The atmosphere. It is possibly even worse than the Emirates - it is that bad.
Too many people turn up to The Bridge now who haven't got a clue and are just there for a day out with no interest of supporting the team. That's all fine, but it bothers me big time when people just don't care about the result. I usually sit in the East Lower but for the Southampton game I was in the East upper. My mate Freddie, who sits in the lower bit, was telling me the other day how there were people literally peeing themselves with excitement when Sadio Mane gave them a high five!
These are people in the CHELSEA end after one of our worst performances in years. This tells you everything. Tickets are so easy to get now if you are prepared to cough up the stupid amount of money that the ever-present ILLEGAL ticket touts ask. This leads to more and more plastics getting in and killing the atmosphere.
I'm not saying they are entirely to blame, but since we have had such a great amount of success in recent years the atmosphere has become far worse. More and more people don't have a clue or give a damn about Chelsea. They don't even know what to sing.
Don't get me wrong, however, it isn't them, and at least there are more recent fans that travel possibly great lengths that actually do get behind the team and support Chelsea. So let's not paint everyone with the same brush here.
Seriously no, no exaggeration, it gets quieter and quieter every year. At the Crystal Palace game I tried starting chants several times and people just look at me as if I'm some kind of nutter. It's embarrassing. Stamford Bridge used to be a place opposing teams feared going to. Now they just laugh.
Proper fans have tried and tried to make a change but I can't help but feel that the club need to put their foot down and help make a change. Every game we are outsung by the away fans, it's so boring now. We have one of the best away followings in the country but somehow one of the worst home support.
The away fans shouldn't be in the Shed End. That is traditionally Chelsea's end and used to be very loud indeed. Now it is just drowned out by the loyal, away supporters putting our fans to shame. Fair enough give them the whole end for Cup games due to FA rules, but for league it is just boring now.
Jose Mourinho has criticised the Chelsea fans before as we all know, but he is in a position to actually change something!!! Instead of slagging us off who pay £52, how about you try and make a change.
You know what else? Don't get me started on his son. Don't even get me started! He has slagged us off even more than his Dad has! Easy for you to say mate, you're in a position to change it as well! You get in every game for free and get to hang out in the dressing room after the game even though your Dad is a multi millionaire.
The rich only get richer.
