Chelsea first-team stars could stand to lose a whopping £4million if they fail to win the Premier League this season.

Chelsea seemed a shoo-in to win the Premier League title a few weeks ago but defeats against Crystal Palace and Manchester United, allied by Tottenham Hotspur's brilliant run of form, means that the Blues lead at the top of the table has been reduced to only four points.

There is now a distinct possibility that Chelsea could well miss out on the Premier League crown and if they do so, the playing group will be unable to claim a bonus of around £4million.

The Sun suggests that the bonus would be split up between the squad, rewarding those who have played the most.

Spurs can also dent Chelsea's plans to win the FA Cup by beating them in the semi-final at Wembley on Saturday, which would reportedly deny players of the West London club a further £1m in prize money.
