Chelsea will appeal the three-match ban handed to Diego Costa for an incident in Tuesday's Capital One Cup win over Liverpool.
The fiery Brazil-born Spanish striker stomped on Reds midfielder Emre Can during his side's 1-0 semi-final second leg triumph at Stamford Bridge which sent the west Londoners through to the league cup final.
Costa lashed out at the German and was the recipient of a three-game suspension from the Football Association for violent conduct but the Blues have opted to go up against the sanction.
The former Atletico Madrid star will have his hearing on Friday, prior to Saturday's top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City, and will have the full backing of the current Premier League leaders.
