Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari confirmed defender Jose Bosingwa is set to miss the Premier League opener against Portsmouth after being ruled out for three weeks with a thigh injury.

The 25-year-old right back, who joined Chelsea from FC Porto over the summer, left the Blues' pre-season tour of Asia and Russia and returned to London after being diagnosed with a small tear in his upper thigh suffered against Guangzhuo.

"He is out for two weeks minimum for treatment and he won't be able to play for three weeks," said Scolari. "At the moment he is out for the first game against Portsmouth."
