Chelsea confirm appointment of keeper coach Lollichon

Christophe Lollichon has been confirmed as new goalkeeper coach at Chelsea.

He joins Chelsea from Rennes, where he previously worked with Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech. His time at Rennes has coincided with the club's best ever period, regularly battling for European football at the top end of the French league. When he joined the club, he began working in the Academy, but quickly rose up the ladder to work with the first team, where he met a young Cech during the 2003/4 season.

Much like Avram Grant, Lollichon never played at the top level, although as a youth, he would train once a week with Nantes, where he occasionally got to share a training pitch with future Chelsea players Marcel Desailly and Didier Deschamps.

The Blues post became available after Silvino Louro left the club with José Mourinho, since when Mark Beeney, who will now return to work with the reserves and Academy, was filling in.
