Chelsea confident they can wait until summer to buy big

Chelsea may shelve plans to buy big this month.

The Daily Express says Chelsea might hold off from any transfer deals this month because they believe they can get their FIFA transfer ban lifted for the summer.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti says he has no intention of adding to his squad in this month's transfer window, even offering to run around Franck Ribery - until concluding they were too expensive. Valencia's David Villa was also considered.

Now, Roman Abramovich could hold on to his cash because, at boardroom level, Chelsea feel confident they can get their FIFA ban lifted when their appeal is heard in April and so will be able to trade in the summer.
