Chelsea coach Newton linked with Brentford role

Chelsea first-team coach Eddie Newton is being linked with the vacancy at League One club Brentford.

The 41-year old former Blues midfielder has been back at Stamford Bridge in a coaching position since returning in 2012 from a similar role at MK Dons and West Bromwich Albion under Roberto Di Matteo.

He has stayed on under Jose Mourinho but Sky Sports suggests he is seeking the opportunity to take charge of a team of his own which has prompted links to the Brentford job which was vacated by new Wigan Athletic boss Uwe Rosler on the weekend.
