Chelsea coach Morris says his players ready for FYC final

Chelsea coach Jody Morris is confident his players are up for the FA Youth Cup final tonight against Arsenal.

Chelsea and Arsenal have won the prestigious Under-18 competition 15 times between them but the two London rivals have never met in the final before this year.

"The group have made a lot of progress," Morris told chelseafc.com ahead to the final. "First and foremost, as individuals there's been progress because the players are maturing and making improvements in their game tactically and technically, but also as a collective I think we've got better as the season has gone on.

"It's something you always hope will happen but it's sometimes easier said than done, especially when you have some players moving up to older age groups as well as injuries or loss of form affecting certain individuals.

"Overall, I've been really pleased with the group and the fact we're in a position now still challenging for four trophies, having already won two of them [the Under-18 Premier League Cup and Under-18 Premier League southern section], shows how well the boys have done. It's definitely been a squad effort because there have been tough things to deal with along the way but we've still been able to maintain our level of performance, which is not always easy."
