Chelsea have Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez under consideration as a backup option in their pursuit for a new centre-forward. The Daily Express says Chelsea will turn to the German if they cannot strike terms for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.
Gomez has struggled to hold down a first team spot with the Bavarians preferring to play Mario Mandzukic up front this season, but he is still a highly regarded finisher.
Both players are aged 27, although Gomez would represent the cheaper option with a likely fee of around £25m.
