Chelsea held more talks with Atletico Madrid last week for Radamel Falcao.
The Sunday Telegraph says Fernando Torres scored twice in Saturday's 3-1 win at Sunderland, ending a barren league run which stretched back more than two months, but his goals came after Marina Granovskaia, Roman Abramovich's personal assistant, travelled to the Spanish capital to sound out Atletico about Falcao's availability.
Falcao is a long-term target and is available for £48m - his buy-out clause - and a likely post-tax salary of £5m. But Chelsea face strong competition from Manchester City and Real Madrid for the highly-rated Atlético Madrid striker.
