Chelsea chief Kenyon: Trophyless season not good enough

Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon has branded this season's trophyless campaign as not good enough.

He rapped: "The standards we've set at the club, second is not something we've settled for. It's easy to look back and take that view but we made the change of manager in September.

"Three months ago, we were involved in four competitions and then six weeks ago we were still in two and this week we got knocked out of the last one. It's disappointing. Everybody would share that view.

"We're going to regroup, come back better next season.

"It's been an interesting season, we never felt we would be written off like we were being talked about but equally you don't like finishing second and as runners-up."
