Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon says they have a 'buy British' transfer policy.

"I think it's vital for two reasons," Kenyon told Chelsea TV. "One is there's no better connection with our supporters and fans than having one who has come through the academy to the first-term. There is a special connection there and you can't buy that.

"Secondly, we contribute 25 per cent of the English national team squad now. That's something we didn't do years ago."

Kenyon, though, says the success of the club is a priority and that Chelsea will not ignore foreign talent.

"But we've got a job to do to make sure we field the best team," Kenyon added.

"We can't just limit it to that (home grown players). We've also got to find the best talent even if they are not in England and put on the best team that gives us the best opportunity of winning Premier League and European titles.

"So I think it is about a balance but there is a real commitment at Chelsea to home grown talent and making sure more players from our academy come through to our first-team."
