Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon admits their £15 million capture of Nicolas Anelka from Bolton had been months in the making.

"Negotiations are always difficult and this has proven no different," he said.

"Those discussions have been going on for a couple of months but we got there very late on Thursday night, Friday morning."
