Chelsea captain John Terry is keen for midfielder Joe Cole to remain at the club.
As time rolls on, it looks more and more likely that the former West Ham man will leave Stamford Bridge especially as Blues officials have made no effort to discuss his contract which expires at the end of next month.
Despite that, Terry says Cole is a required player at the club and would hate to see the back of him.
"We'd love him to stay. It would be nice to get Joe sorted before the World Cup but sometimes it's not as easy as that," Terry said.
"We've got a massive tournament and we've got a manager who doesn't want any distractions."
