Chelsea captain John Terry is happy for Paolo di Canio over his appointment as Sunderland manager.

Terry has his own take on the Italian and has nothing but nice things to say.

Blues captain Terry said: "I didn't play in the game here at Chelsea against West Ham when he flicked it over someone and smashed it in with his left foot.

"I played against him when he was at Charlton.

His movement was fantastic. He was just a real nice guy, I found on the pitch. He always spoke to me after games and said, 'Listen, maybe you should do this and do that' - which was really nice at the time.

"When he made certain movements, he would say I should maybe have been tighter and stuff like that.

"I was only young when I was playing against him when he was at West Ham and sides like that. I had the likes of Zola teaching me every day, but from an opposition player it was nice to get that. Literally a two-word sentence was enough and something I learnt from.

"He always gave a battle. If there was a little tussle, he'd get up and shake your hand. He was a real tough player to play against."
