Rafael Benitez is of the belief that Chelsea can challenge for the Premier League title next season.
The departing Spaniard, who guided the Blues to third place after taking over from Roberto Di Matteo in November, feels he is leaving a squad who can push Manchester United for England's mantle in 2013/14 provided it is strengthened by owner Roman Abramovich.
"This team will be challenging for the title next year," Benitez said.
"It has been a great experience. We've taken a team, a team in transition with young players, and now we have left a good team, with more experience, with good character, scoring goals, more balance.
"I think it will be good for the next manager, because he will have a very good team and also the owner will bring in more players."
